Teachers that have influenced me:
Donna Farhi, who has done a lot of work on breath and Mukunda Stiles, who is a yoga practitioner. Stiles works with both yoga teachers as well as yoga students. He helps students who have sustained yoga injuries, helping them with other yoga poses. He teaches yoga teachers how to notice injuries and teach a student how to move in yoga to keep from hurting themselves further. They both have books. Farhi's book, The Breathing Book and Stile's book, Structural Yoga Therapy.

QiGong is a health maintenance system developed by the Chinese thousands of years ago. This standing meditation with slow, gentle movements helps prevent disease and improve health by clearing blocked qi (life energy) and opening energetic pathways in the body. The simple movements release tension held in the body eliminating the ill effects of stress, reducing pain, strengthening the immune system, increasing flexibility and bringing the body into balance. In addition, it cultivates an expanded level of awareness which helps establish a mind/body/spirit connection. Read more about QiGong at www.nqa.org. |
