QiGong is a health maintenance system developed by the Chinese thousands of years ago. This standing meditation with slow, gentle movements helps prevent disease and improve health by clearing blocked qi (life energy) and opening energetic pathways in the body. The simple movements release tension held in the body eliminating the ill effects of stress, reducing pain, strengthening the immune system, increasing flexibility and bringing the body into balance. In addition, it cultivates an expanded level of awareness which helps establish a mind/body/spirit connection. Read more about QiGong at www.nqa.org. |

Katheryn Yasuoka
T'ai Chi Instructor and Registered Movement Educator |

Katheryn.Yasuoka@BlueberryGardens.org |
T’ai Chi Chuan is a series of continuous standing movements linked together to create a 37 posture form. The movement is slow. One learns how to relax the muscles, deepen the breath and focus the mind. Daily practice will improve balance, joint flexibility and strength, suppleness and alignment.
It is said that with daily practice of T’ai Chi Chuan over a prolonged period of time one will gain the pliability of a child, the health of a lumberjack and the peace of mind of a sage. Of course, it is also useful for improving athletic performance.
No special clothing or equipment is required. Practice can be done anywhere.
I began my study in 1975 and started teaching in 1987. I have taught T’ai Chi Chuan at
George Washington University, Department of Labor, Department of Energy, Arlington Recreation Department, dance studios in Washington, D.C. and at the Aspen Hill Club.
